Abstract

Vegetable sector can play a vital role in country's economy. During last four Five Year Plans, production of vegetables increased significantly with double the productivity, and area by almost three times. This effort was the contribution of government and non-government organization including various foreign aided projects. In next twenty year the production need to be increased by two and a half fold, which is possible with great efforts in research and extension to increase productivity; and with post harvest activities and efficiency in marking systems to increase per-capita consumption.
