ABSTRACT

Post-harvest losses of fruits and vegetables are 12 to 35% of crop yields that reduce economic productivity in Nepal. Mechanical injuries, physical damages, micro-biological decay, physiological alternations, inadequate marketing opportunities, packaging and transportation systems are some key elements that cause losses after harvest. Some of these issues are discussed and presented in this paper along with the project activities of the Small Marketing Infrastructure Project.
